Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma who is also Chairmanof Regional Red Cross Society Jammu, convened a meeting of heads of variousdepartments to discuss the arrangements for the annual Red Cross Mela-cumRaffle draw 2020, here today.

The meeting was attended by Honorary Secretary Red CrossSociety, Dinesh Gupta, besides senior functionaries of Health, Police,Industries, Education, Social Welfare, BSF, Army, CRPF, members’ civilsocieties and other concerned departments.

Threadbare discussions were held with regard to sale ofRaffle Draw tickets, sponsorships and making other necessary arrangements forannual Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw 2020. The officers gave.

 The Secretary RedCross Society gave a detailed presentation on activities of Red Cross Society.He informed that the objective of organizing the Red Cross Mela is to createawareness among the general masses regarding Red Cross Society and generatefunds for the welfare activities of the society. He further informed that thefunds generated would be used for giving financial assistance to poor andtreatment of poor patients.

The Div Com stressed on greater involvement of socialorganizations and youth in extending service to downtrodden and those facingdistress due to manmade or natural calamities besides providing services todestitute, orphans and needy people.

The Div Com asked the departments to cooperate with the RedCross Society for distribution of tickets and other arrangements to make theevent successful. He further asked the concerned to work in synergy andmaintain close liaison with each other to make the event a grand success. Heurged the education authorities to motivate students and colleges for engagingin such activates for welfare of people.
